Popped in here on a Saturday afternoon and it's certainly a very popular place. Went to the bar, was just mid sentence choosing Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold, when another punter just barged up to the bar with a pork pie, must have been taking it back I don't know. He was obviously a local, as the barmaid just completely ignored me in front of her and proceeded to have a right old chinwag with this other lad. After what seemed like ages, she said to another member of staff 'serve her will you'. Great customer service right there. Took my pint out to the outside area and this was even worse, full of idiots shouting and roaring their heads off. Get me out of here! I didn't hang around.

Situated at the top of Ray Street, so it must be good and it was. This large Micro consists of a wallpapered front seating area, with large 1950's style standing lamps with big shades.
The middle section had a log burning stove and petrol blue painted walls and further seating.
A good sized bar with six handpulled ales was positioned at the rear of the pub with all their casks stored on view in a chill cabinet behind the bar. This Micro is slightly more upmarket, compared to the Angry Bee and attracts the more conservative drinker.

One of the best micropubs that I have ever visited and a must visit when in Heanor,a town littered with micro pubs. There are small benches outside, while the interior is quite large with traditional tables and chairs on both sides,a staircase to one side leading to a charming Georgian parlour room and a side door to a decent beer garden which was proving popular in the fine weather. At the end of the room ,the bar runs across the full width of the interior with the cooling room with racked barrels on display behind a glass frontage.
The star here is the ale range which on our visit was Abbeydale Daily Bread,Bang the Elephant Santa Rosa,Black Irish Endless Summer (NBSs 4.5),Stancill No. 7 (NBSS 4),Lenton Lane Pale Alto (NBSS 4),Thornbridge Jaipur IPA (NBSS 4.5) and Leadmill American Girl.Lots of locale ,and much high ABV choices unlike so many micros. In conversation with the guv'nor he said that 5% plus ales were considered sessionable by the folk of Heanor ! A single handpump was devoted to a Lilly cider.
We went through the card and were really impressed with ale quality and the friendly welcome.Rightly in the 2025 GBG,don't miss out when in Heanor.Full marks.

Seven hand pumps in this one. Seating to front and a beer garden to rear. Not as good a selection of ales compared to the other two micros but worth a revisit.
